A six-day celebration of independent film, animation and emerging technology is returning to OMSI this summer as the Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation & Technology runs Aug. 18-23, 2026, with tickets now on sale.

A six-day film festival featuring more than 170 films from 31 countries starts Tuesday at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. The 2026 Portland Festival of Cinema, Animation and Technology, or PFCAT, runs Aug.

Animation World Network covered some of the animation award highlights from the 2026 festival. Matteo Burani’s clay-sculpture short took the top award; Heinrich Sabl’s 25-years-in-the-making ‘Memory Hotel’ was named best animated feature; the Portland festival screened 133 animated films across numerous competitive categories.
